Cleveland Wedge Set

North Iowa Golf offers a full line of Wedges from name brand manufacturers including PING, Callaway, Cleveland, TaylorMade, Nike, Wilson and many others.

Wedges are specialized irons used to put the ball as close to the flag as possible. Wedges are usually used from about 100 yards and in to the green.

The most common wedges used are the Sand Wedge, the Gap Wedge, and the Lob Wedge. The Pitching Wedge is usually considered part of the basic set of Irons so it isn't included in the specialty wedge category.

Because the purpose of your Wedges is to deliver the ball as accurately as possible as close to the hole as possible, they are are commonly referred to as "scoring clubs".

Wedges have the shortest shafts and highest lofts of any golf clubs. They are often identified by their loft rather than their name. For instance, a lob wedge might be referred to as a "60-degree wedge".

Sand wedges were invented to make shots out of sand bunkers easier. The typical sand wedge might have a loft of around 56 degrees.

A typical lob wedge might have a loft of 60 degrees. The lob wedge allows you to "lob" the ball high into the air, so it drops steeply down onto the green with little or no roll.

Because your pitching wedge is typically lofted from 45 to 48 degrees, the gap wedge is so named because it closes the "gap" in loft between the pitching wedge and sand wedge. A typical gap wedge is lofted from 50-54 degrees.
